Ty Whalin was born in Indianapolis, IN. started his career at a young age. While growing up he loved visiting his grandparents every other Sunday while his grandma was cooking away in the kitchen making Sunday dinner. His grandpa always had some kind of project going on for him to get his hands on every Sunday or as often as possible. Although sometimes his grandpa would get a aggravated at him because Ty was always the impatient person wanting to get his hand's into something. His grandpa had this workshop where he would get to play around with all kinds of goodies, electronics, diagrams and schematics just to name a few of the thing's. His grandpa retired from Naval Avionics years ago, and his grandfather always brought home his work. Then one day he brought home the first computer he had ever seen. This fancy machine at the time was a TSR-80. This was the first computer sold to the consumer as far as he can remember, courtesy of Texas Instruments and sold through Radio Shack. He immediately started to play games with this fancy new computer and reading books on programming. This is when Ty's interest in computer's began. He said "that he still owns these book's, but the book's are out dated of course" and that he actually still has those same books to this very day. As time went on, he was now much older and attending a local high school - Warren Central, a local high school located in Indianapolis, IN. This is when he took his first computer course. He was given the task of creating a graphic from scratch and to re-produce it on a computer. He said "for some reason I choose the figure from the famous Nerds candy" LOL. This was his first real computer project, "man it was exciting". The project turned out to be a success overall and he still has the print out saved of the graphical project. After graduating, he decided it was time for a change. He was working three jobs at times and was getting board with it; he joined the Navy. Following the foot steps of his other grandpa and uncle he started his adventure. He landed a great rating during this time period. He became what is now designated as a Special Warfare Operator (AW) for short. This was a challenging career with lots of responsibilities and benefit's. He started training in Orlando, FL. for boot camp and then after a short Christmas break he ended up being at Memphis, TN. for a short period of time attending an A school. After A school he got sent to Sand Diego, CA. for his last leg of training. Finally, he was stationed over sea's for about 3 year's or more on an aircraft carrier (U.S.S. Independence) at Yokosuka, Japan. After completing multiple course's the real fun began. He landed a cool gig with a Master Chief involving main frame computers and UNIX programming. Back in the day Windows 95 was the big thing, wow have thing's changed. From here he started learning technology about main frame computers and communications. This is the time he got into UNIX systems and programming. He attended a course and got certified in UNIX programming by the Air Force, but did not have much of a chance to work with it other than when he went out to sea doing ops for month's at a time. As time went on he began to apply these new learned skills and found it all to be fascinating. All of this was going on while doing his regular duties of course. He learned a great deal from all of this traveling and experience, but as to the Navy career, it was stopped short due to a collision which caused some irreversible injuries to left arm and hand. This is when he was discharged under honorable condition (medical). After separation he moved back to his hometown Indianapolis, IN. and immediately began working again at a local plant named Praxair Surface Technologies. After a few years of being back and working, it was time for another change. During that time he became a proud father of a wonderful girl named Sesalee. After a year or so he moved to Florida for a while and started attending college. He went full-time at Central Florida Community College where he majored in Computer Information Administration. He said "It was difficult at times working part-time, trying to pay the bills and attending college, but with help from my father and other supportive family member's I managed". After three years of college and working, he stopped attending college for about a year. Next, he began to work out of town in the evening's, and attending college again. This time around he opted to try an online college at Rasmussen College. This went on for about a year and his major was Computer Information Technology. At this time he was putting in about twelve hour day's and doing course work afterwards. Sometimes he would fall asleep at the computer while typing a report. He kept thing's going pretty well, but times where tough; and it was time for another move. He was currently working for another web design firm at the time, but eventually made his way back to Indianapolis, IN. After a few months of his mother helping him and looking for work he got a phone call from a local company asking him to come in for an interview, it took three interviews; but he got the job. He said "this was a great feeling to get hired to show off his skills especially in a downed economy at the time"". Of course he had already landed a few clients of his own between all of this moving around and had completed about 75 different website designs. He spent most of his time reading books and articles on the Internet - learning optimization, programming, website design and designing graphics. After years of using Adobe, Microsoft and various other software vendor's and becoming extremely familiar with these different user interfaces all of this learning began to pay off . Those long nights of trial and error, and sometimes down right, throw the computer out the window were over. Finally, he found his calling - Internet Marketing, SEO and SEM He said "the thrill of having a website on the front page of the search engines is great". This ever changing industry makes it a challenge, not to mention it is something different everyday. With all the different area's to choose in the computer and technology industry it can be down right over whelming at times deciding which one to select as a career. After speaking with several college students and experts in multiple part's of these professions. It became evident to him, choose one and stick with it. This is how he came to where he is today.
